Surat District - Population 2011-2024

An official Census 2011 detail of Surat, a district of Gujarat has been released by Directorate of Census Operations in Gujarat. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Surat District of Gujarat.

In 2011, Surat had population of 6,081,322 of which male and female were 3,402,224 and 2,679,098 respectively. In 2001 census, Surat had a population of 4,275,540 of which males were 2,362,072 and remaining 1,913,468 were females. Surat District population constituted 10.06 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for Surat District was at 8.44 percent of Maharashtra population.

There was change of 42.24 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, Surat District recorded increase of 54.30 percent to its population compared to 1991.


Surat Literacy Rate

Average literacy rate of Surat in 2011 were 85.53 compared to 85.53 of 2001. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy were 89.56 and 80.37 respectively. For 2001 census, same figures stood at 83.83 and 69.87 in Surat District. Total literate in Surat District were 4,571,410 of which male and female were 2,687,468 and 1,883,942 respectively. Surat Child Population

In census enumeration, data regarding child under 0-6 age were also collected for all districts including Surat. There were total 736,286 children under age of 0-6 against 600,664 of 2001 census. Of total 736,286 male and female were 401,315 and 334,971 respectively. Child Sex Ratio as per census 2011 was 835 compared to 859 of census 2001.
