An official Census 2011 detail of Garhwa, a district of Jharkhand has been released by Directorate of Census Operations in Jharkhand. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Garhwa District of Jharkhand.

In 2011, Garhwa had population of 1,322,784 of which male and female were 683,575 and 639,209 respectively. In 2001 census, Garhwa had a population of 1,035,464 of which males were 535,332 and remaining 500,132 were females. Garhwa District population constituted 4.01 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for Garhwa District was at 3.84 percent of Maharashtra population.
