Sikh Population in India
According to latest population census, the Sikh population in India is estimated to be around 20 million, or 1.7% of the total population. The majority of Sikhs live in the northern state of Punjab, where they constitute around 57% of the population. However, there are also significant Sikh populations in other Indian states such as Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, as well as in other countries with large Indian diaspora like Canada, UK and US. Sikhism is a monotheistic religion that originated in the 15th century in the Punjab region of India. It was founded by Guru Nanak and has since grown to be the fifth largest religion in the world.
