An official Census 2011 detail of Diu, a district of Daman and Diu has been released by Directorate of Census Operations in Daman and Diu. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Diu District of Daman and Diu.

In 2011, Diu had population of 52,074 of which male and female were 25,642 and 26,432 respectively. In 2001 census, Diu had a population of 44,215 of which males were 20,878 and remaining 23,337 were females. Diu District population constituted 21.41 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for Diu District was at 27.95 percent of Maharashtra population.

There was change of 17.77 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, Diu District recorded increase of 11.98 percent to its population compared to 1991.

Average literacy rate of Diu in 2011 were 83.46 compared to 83.46 of 2001. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy were 91.21 and 76.06 respectively. In census enumeration, data regarding child under 0-6 age were also collected for all districts including Diu. There were total 6,476 children under age of 0-6 against 7,554 of 2001 census. Of total 6,476 male and female were 3,357 and 3,119 respectively. Child Sex Ratio as per census 2011 was 929 compared to 960 of census 2001. In 2011, Children under 0-6 formed 12.44 percent of Diu District compared to 17.08 percent of 2001. There was net change of -4.64 percent in this compared to previous census of India.
