An official Census 2011 detail of Ambala, a district of Haryana has been released by Directorate of Census Operations in Haryana. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Ambala District of Haryana.

In 2011, Ambala had population of 1,128,350 of which male and female were 598,703 and 529,647 respectively. In 2001 census, Ambala had a population of 1,014,411 of which males were 542,977 and remaining 471,434 were females. Ambala District population constituted 4.45 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for Ambala District was at 4.80 percent of Maharashtra population.

There was change of 11.23 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, Ambala District recorded increase of 25.78 percent to its population compared to 1991.


Ambala Literacy Rate

Average literacy rate of Ambala in 2011 were 81.75 compared to 81.75 of 2001. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy were 87.34 and 75.50 respectively.
