An official Census 2011 detail of Gajapati, a district of Orissa has been released by Directorate of Census Operations in Orissa. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Gajapati District of Orissa.

In 2011, Gajapati had population of 577,817 of which male and female were 282,882 and 294,935 respectively. In 2001 census, Gajapati had a population of 518,837 of which males were 255,423 and remaining 263,414 were females. Gajapati District population constituted 1.38 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for Gajapati District was at 1.41 percent of Maharashtra population.

There was change of 11.37 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, Gajapati District recorded increase of 14.10 percent to its population compared to 1991.
